We’d love to have you come along with us to hike part of the lovely Appalachian Trail for AT Family Hike Day this Saturday (9/29/12)!
This hike will showcase the 75th year of completion for the AT, the photography of Mr. Vince “Blaze” Meier, and the importance of the work by the fine members of the Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club. Ashley and I are so honored to walk with KIVA families for this special event. We will also be reading a selection from Annie Dillard’s book, Pilgrim at Tinker Creek… an homage to the fine book and the creek we will be walking over on Saturday.
We will be meeting at the park and ride at 9:30 AM and will adapt the hike to the size and age of the group. The details on the weblink say 8 miles, but it is not likely that we will walk the entire length of the trail. Here are the directions… http://www.roanokeoutside.com/tinker-ridge-hay-rock-overlook-trail
