This just in from our friend, Mike Vaughn of the Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club (www.ratc.org):
WDBJ7 is going to do the first live broadcast ever from McAfee Knob on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Meteorologist Brent Watts will show the spectacular views and do some weather forecasting. They will also mention the AT’s 75th anniversary this year and talk to some hikers.
They are using a new portable technology in a backpack that allows the transmission of high definition television signals through what’s known as bonded cell phones.
