There is an exceptional story covering a local Girl Scout Troop which is participating in the Girl Scouts of America’s 100th birthday celebration. To celebrate, the GSA are leading hikes along the Appalachian Trail in “bits and pieces.”

“Victoria Worrell skipped the tournament game that would determine whether her softball team made it to the championship round. The 11-year-old from Roanoke had other plans.
“I decided it would be more fun to go hiking and camping than to play an hour of softball,” Victoria said.”
