taking a zero day.

Category: General

Heard a lot of thru-hikers on the Appalachian Trail talking about the important need to just take a day off.  They refer to them as zero days.

I took that advice today and did nothing.  It was really nice.

Here is what happens when parents take a zero day…

no laundry, no dishes, no ever-so-important housework…

but here is what I did get-

time to read with each kid, dinner on the deck, a nice walk with the dog, discovery of three natural blueberries in the woods, bike races with the kiddos, watching the sunset over the horse stables, the magic of discovering the boys making “paint out of nature,” time to read a kayaking magazine, time with friends, discovering old toys and cool, clear water from the hose.

yep, it was worth it.
