When I was a kid, I often heard people say that we kids could not play in the Roanoke River for all of the pollution… It was a mess.
Today, thanks to the efforts of Roanoke Valley citizens and the wonderful Clean Valley Council, the Roanoke Times is reporting some fantastic finds about the macroinvertebrates that were recently found in the Roanoke River! Those little critters are signs that a healthier river is available for families in the area.

I am proud of the KIVA families who have done their part over the years with park clean ups and using Leave No Trace principles to make this dream come true!
You know what this means?
Time for a creekdip! Bring on the hellgramites!
