This week, I have had a nice long break with the kids. We’ve stayed near the house and enjoyed game time, art time and just time to be ourselves. Stick around the Donahue house long enough and you’ll get sucked into a dance party, for sure. This week, we have been lucky enough to have cousins over for a visit or two. This meant more game time, more art time and lots of kids dancing on the dance floor.
What’s been playing in the cd player this week?
Glad you asked!
Hope Harris’s romp-filled new cd: Cousins Jamboree!
Hope Harris’s voice has been compared to Kate Taylor and Patsy Cline. And to me, that’s an incredible recommendation! Standouts for her include the lovely rendition of “Down in the Valley” and the energetic title track! Hope wrote most all of the songs herself. She does a great job of engaging the imagination of the listener. “Eddie the Otter” had our kids asking for an afternoon creekdip!
Just like a great family reunion, all the players on Cousins Jamboree brings their talents to this celebration of handmade music. You’ll find violin, piano, drums and bass, along with the very talented Rob Friedman, well worth a google search on his own.
This record is packed with fun! It is a celebration of country living, all the way to last track, “Holcomb Rock Road.” This touching track reminds the listener to take a step back…down the way.
Check out this verse:
“On the dirt road path my cousins and I
Would walk down to the pond
On the floating dock, we’d sail away
As Annie Frank, our grandma looked on
Down the way, down the way…”
What are you waiting for? Call up your cousins, put in Hope Harris’s Cousin Jamboree and enjoy a shake, a giggle and wiggle!
