The number one question we are most asked when doing interviews or during our presentations, is “Why?“  Why do we host monthly outdoor adventures for families?  Especially when we do it for free, at no charge to the families…

The answer is simple:

INSPIRATION.

It comes from many different places:

First, the wonderful parents who show up for their first or fifteenth adventure, Jon Beard and his mad skills at photography (and providing the website), countless authors like Jennifer Ward (Let’s Go Outside!), Tom Angleberger (The Qwikpick Adventure Society) and Todd Christopher (The Green Hour), the 63 other Nature Club for Families leaders who have given of their time and energy to start up their own nature clubs, the Children and Nature Network for pulling it all together and pushing the movement along, our parents for giving us free outdoor play as kids, and the fantastic people who create amazing music for families…for all those road trips.  (****Look for our review of the new Ralph’s World cd this week at www.kidsadventuring.org****)

You don’t have to wait for our review though!  Check out his website and listen to “The Great Outdoors.”  This will be our theme song for the week!  Thanks Ralph!  The Donahues love you!

This week, the Donahues are going to be celebrating National Wildlife Week by encouraging families to get outside together.  Get Wild Child!  You can see that we will be playing every day this week.  Come on out and play with us, or get out somewhere else!  It’s almost Spring.  Our “Hoodie-Hoo Day” event worked.  The snow is gone and the world is calling to us once again.  Come out and play.  A world of adventure awaits!

I had never heard of National Wildlife Week. Do you have a list of activities or resources? It would be awesome to incorporate on a family road trip.
