    Orange ya glad there are such great parks in Roanoke? Orange ya glad Feeding America is there for families in need? Wear your orange (color for hunger) and come out for a exciting game of KIVA Kickball at the wonderful Washington Park in Roanoke (on Orange Avenue).
    
  • KIVA's Fall Waterways Clean Up 2010

    Join KIVA families as we continue to help keep the Roanoke River an amazing place to play. We will join the Clean Valley Council and our pals from around the area to clean up around our favorite creekdipping spot at Green Hill Park. At 11:30, we will head to Wasena Park for a free picnic celebration. More info at www.cleanvalley.org.

    KIVA road trip, here we come!
    Bring a picnic lunch and join us for a tour of the lovely farm surrounding the Booker T. Washington Monument. Take a short hike on the Jack-O-Lantern Trail.

Another snow day. This time everyone was sick. Not even enough energy for s’mores. It was the bird window to the rescue! Just a couple of bird feeders, right by the window. What a lovely time. A few guides, some hot tea and we were set!

Since we have enjoyed this activity so much as a family, we decided that the next KIVA event will be a Backyard Bird Count and Tea Party in the woods. We will walk along the Appalachian Trail on February 20th, from 10 AM until 1 PM. We will walk and talk and enjoy the lovely surroundings, all the while keeping our eyes out for our feathered friends. We will have several bird guides with us to search for the particular birds we find.

The crew will take a break for snacks and hot tea, thanks to Celestial Seasonings Tea Company. They donated many different types of tea for us to enjoy. Climb the rocks and learn about the world around us.
